need help on details how to cycle w/ dead shrimp

okay so once i get my tank set up i thrown in some dead shrimp,leave my biowheel off for about three days then turn it on and just wait for amonia and nirtite levels to go down.now do i leave the shrimp in the whole time the tank is cycling or do i take them out or do i take them out and replace them with some new dead shrimp when they start smelling too bad. also one other thing with the water you add to top off the tank from evaporation and such do you add just r/o water or r/o water with buffer add to make the ph match

thanks that helped so im assuming the shrimp just stay in there the whole time. anyone know how bad the smell will get cause my tanks in my bedroom

Should not have any problem with a bad smell. If you do run some carbon in your filter it will remove the smell.
