right now I am in the process of building my refugium, I bought a 20 gal long tank and added a 4in sand bed, with one inch of crushed coral in the middle of the bed (for a tottal bed of 5 in). i really have two question's, what type of lighting should I use to light it. I just bought the light's for the main tank so my pocket is a little thin right now. also I need two pumps. 1 to take the water from the sump to the refugium, and another as a return back to the tank. what kinda pumps whould you guys recomend. thanks for any help

Can't help with questions on return pump...other than to say personally I'd try to keep a relatively low flow rate thru the refugium. Mine is fed by a hagen 802 ph and has approximately 75 GPH of flow. For lighting I use a standard 4' shop fixture with 2x40 watt no floursent lamps(50/50) my calupera is growing like crazy!...in any case I think you'll like the benefits of adding the refugium to your system....after the first month my nitrates hit zero and micro algaes in the display are nearly non-existant.

Home depot. For the fixture it was approx $10...lamps were around $8 each. I built my entire refugium(35 gal rubbermaid) for under $50....lighting included.....*_^
