Need Help Please

Had a pair of Black and White percs, the small male somehow jumped into the intake 2 nights ago. He didn't look to good but I put him in the main tank and the female checked him out and then chased him off. I moved him to QT but after 48hrs he passed on.
Should I replace him immediately? Will the Female accept another? Should I get 2 small ones as I hear they group in 3's ?

I'd just get another smaller one. She'll go through the dominance routine with the new one, but they should be fine once the new one realizes who the boss is.
