I think I need to replace a light bulb in my JBJ power compact. It is the system with the duel fans and 4 bulbs 2 65w 10000, and 2 blue lights. One set of the blue lights are very dim now:( . So I figured I would have to replace the bulbs. I think I should change all of them at once. Should I do that? That way I know how old each bulb was and I would have a balance of light.
Also should I get 4 blue/100000K duel bulbs. You know the ones that come together know.
Can I up the wattage? does anyone make a higher wattage bulb for my system? Who?
Thanks
Ryan

If its the Formosa fixture than Im pretty sure your stuck with the 65 watters. Thats all JBJ intended to be ran in there.
For bulbs I would go with 2 10K's and 2 03 actinics. Dont go with JBJ's "blue" bulb. Its not aesthetically appealing IMO.
As far as replacing the bulbs, you didnt say how old the bulbs are. Thats a determining factor in replacing bulbs. If your bulbs are "dimmer" then I would suspect something wrong with the ballast running them. I have returned two 36" Formosa fixtures so far because of bad ballasts. I finally gave in and decided to build my own DIY system on my 34 gallon starting with a well known ballast. At least that way its cheaper and I know I can trust the individual components. HTH

With one set of bulbs being not as bright as the others you might want to check and see if you have all good conection, and no salt build up on one of the conections. IMO I would stay with just 10K bulbs and 03 bulbs that way you can control when they come on, I am in the process of changing my dual bulbs that way.

I too have a 36" JBJ. I was running through bulbs about every 4 months. So I contacted JBJ and they were happy to upgrade everything on the light and replace new bulbs for free. All I had to pay was shipping.
