Need help w/powers heads

Ok heres my problem .Within the last month my powers heasds have sucked in a Nudibranch and it just sucked in part oif my cucumber.Of course the Nudibranch was fish food didnt find anything of him, but my cucumber is still alive, I took him out and put him in my 30 gal trash can I use for water changes,
How can I stop this from happening again?? What do I need to do to my power heads to prevent this from happening any more??

cover them with sponges built for this porpose, and or window screening from the hardware, the plastic kind. Not much you can do about the nudis' becuase where theres a will there is a way. Nidibranches are known for getting into powerheads, but he sponge works well.

Oh and have you checked your water after the cuke got into the power head? I would.
