o wow neat lil sump. Ur gonna like that a lot. Ive always only had home made sumps no pro ones!
Basically u need a pump that is under the rating of ur overflow, otherwise u will end up with to much water being pumped up to the tank and the overflow cant keep up, thus causing water on the floor :-O
I used a GHs kit and its 700gph and i got a 500gph pond pump off the auction site, this is on a 30ish gal system HTHs

I'd use an Eshopps 300 (300gph max) overflow and pair it with a Mag Drive 3 (300gph return pump) You may still need to put a ball valve or better yet - a gate valve on the return line to fine tune it.
You don't want to underpower your pump at all... you need to have some amount of force with your pump to keep bubbles from forming in the overflow Utube to keep the siphon going and the bubbles pushed through. If you underrate your pump, your siphon will be lost and you will have water all over the floor. Slightly overrating your pump according to head height will constantly keep the siphon in an external overflow and you can turn it down some with the ball/gate valves.
Just my 0.02

The whole thing is 6"x3"x10"... LxWxH.
Measure where you want to put it. If that won't fit, they make a 4" long version - the PF Nano. I use the Nano on my 20g high pared with a throttled back Mag 3. A PF300 with a Mag 3 would be a good match though.
You just have to take the time to put a ruler to your tank.
BY THE WAY....
I don't think an external overflow will even work on a nanocube. I believe you may have to have it drilled for an internal overflow.
If you post pics of the back of your tank I can take a better look at it.
