Need help with Coralife skimmer

I have the coralife super skimmer 65. It has been working fine, but yesterday I noticed that their was an extreme amount of bubbles/foam coming into the collection cup and it kept overflowing with bubbles. I tried turning it down, but nothing it kept happening. The only other thing I noticed is that the bubble production diffuser stopped overflowing when I turned on the skimmer. I was thinking something may be blocked. If this has happened to anyone, please help me and tell me how to fix it...... :help: Also I have had the skimmer up and running for apx. 7 months.

Check your airline it gets clogged and will cause the skimmer to overflow. Check where the airline attaches to the skimmer and the little film case looking thing also.

I added a clownfish and an LTA, but that was it..... also, last night I found a huge chunk of salt in the air-line, which I removed, but the same problem was still happening. I just took off the air-line and started blowing through it and through the film looking thing. I then re-attatched it and started the skimmer up. So far so good, but I'm nervous because I have to go to work in 30 minutes and I don't want to come home to a mess.

Welcome to my world. LOL I have the same skimmer and it works great for a few days then it goes crazy and overflows the collection cup. I believe the skimmer is very sensitive to the water level mine is in my sump.

Do you have your skimmer in a section of your sump that the water level changes? I'm still cycling and my skimmer is awesome. The skimmate is nasty. I have not fed the tank or anything so my skimmer has not "gone crazy."

i have the same skimmer. mine ran flawlessly for about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden did the same thing. the bubbles were everywhere, and the bubble defuser was just overflowing. people on here told me to go to home depot or lowes and get a filter for a water garden. i can't remember the size, but it fits really snug on the pipe. it has worked great ever since. i'll try and find the filter on the net for you and post it.
everybody on here that i have talked to with the coralife skimmers have had the same problem. but i agree with the others, if you think you are going to have a mess when you get home, turn it off. there are a lot of people that run successful tanks without them anyway. i dont' think its going to hurt anything for it to be off for a few hours.

No, my water level is constant where the skimmer is. I have noticed today with mine that after i set the water level in the cone it will start creeping up. I checked the airline and the little grey thing on the end and they were clear. I had the grey thing hanging over the side of the sump with no support so maybe the airline was getting pinched. I have fixed that so we will see i cant think of any other reason why it keep doing this. the skimmer works great as far as skimming but this overflowing is getting on my nerves. I need to get this fixed before i go on vacation in a few months i dont want to come home to a mess.
