Need help with Gorgonian

I went to the fish store today and saw a gorgonian that looked bad and the guy said he would give it to me for free. Its about 2 ft long and about 2 inches of the tips are white (its a yellow gorgonian) and looks like its just bleached. I know that this thing will probably die but im wondering if there is anything i can do to help it. And if i can cut the white tips off without hurting it. I never had this type of coral so any info would be great on it.

Here are the pics. Sorry about the dirty tank i been in the hospital for a week. And it almost looks like my flame angel has ich.

looks like a yellow tree sponge. dont expose it to air. you should be able to trim it, but dont take my word.

The guy at the LFS said that he had to much light on it. He had 2 MH 150 watts on it. Could that be the cause of it. And the flame angel keeps eating the tips of it is that alright?

if the angel is eating it, you prabably cant keep it or the angel will kill it

I agree with Teresa. Yellow tree sponge. Angels eat sponge, so unless you have another tank to put it in, it won't last long. You can try to trim it, but I think it's on it's way out.
Maybe it will be just a nice treat for your angel!

I put it in my other tank now but if it keeps getting worse then ill let the angel have at it. Atleast i didnt have to pay anything for it.
