OK.. I am REALLY new to this so let me start here...
I have a 37 Gallon Eclipse System
Power Compact lighting system conversion
Prizm Skimmer
Total Reef Setup (Live Rock, Coral and Inverts)
I completed my cycling process and placed 6 small fish (3 Green Chromies and 1 Regal Tang and Two Clowns) in on Friday.. Water quality is all good and still is...
I lost my small clown durting the night last night and noticed that there are s few white spots on my other clown and regal tang. They are stilleating well and seem fine but I know I need to do something quick. I called the people I bought the fish from and they told me not to worry but I have already lost one and even though I saw no sign of ick on him, I am still worried..
What do I need to do?? I do not have a qt aquarium to pull the fich to and have NO knowledge of where I go from here.. I thought I saw something about a treatment that treats ick and was safe to place into the reef system ( as I know copper is NOT safe for the reef itself). ANyone have an idea on this one?
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

That LFS is a disgusting joke if they sold you that 37gal tank and then allowed you to buy 6 new fish all at once, including a TANG for goodness sakes, to place in a new tank. Not only is the tank over crowded but it is way over crowded for a new tank.
I have a 72 gal and would add only 1 fish at a time, with about 1 month intervals between additions. Do you have inverts in this tank? 3-4 small fish, not a tang, added over a period of time would have been the capacity of this system.
I would not recommend any of the so-called reef safe meds. The only viable solution is to setup a hospital tank and treat these fish. I'd recommend hyposalinity. The fish will need to be in the hospital for a month, and, in the interium, the ick in the your tank will die off. Also, after treatment, you will need to find another home for that tang. Yes, it is a juvenile now, but it won't be for long. Tangs need much bigger tanks to thrieve or even live.
Can I suggest that you visit our Articles Forum and read the articles over there. One set of articles covers fish stress and the other covers ick. Its a lot of reading, but as a new hobbyist, I think you will gain a good deal of insight. Additionally, get a good hobby book, or several good hobby books. And lastly, find another LFS or buy online.
If you're going to follow my advise with the hospital tank, and need help setting that up and doing a treatment, post back, I'll be glad to walk you thru it. However, I can't advsie on treating your fish in tank.
You can feed your fish garlic soaked food. This isn't going to cure an all-out outbreak of ick, but it will help out if you just have a few parasites.

TOTALLY AGREEING WITH BETH THAT IS A DISCUSTING JOKE IN FACT TANG SHOULD BE THE
LAST
FISH YOU BUY OR EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING!! THYE ARE VERY DELACATE!
I suggest next time starting with damsels first ONLY damsels!
Good luck!!
(sorry about the spelling)
