ok the thing is im moving to indiana about a 3 hour one way trip. i live in kentucky with a 30 gallon reef tank holding 2 fish and lots of soft and lps coral. the thing is im upgrading in the prosses to a 50 gallon. only our house has to sell before my family can move to a new house. this leaves out the chance to get the new tank ready. :help: :needhelp:
what im thinking is leaving my coral hear with my cousin who has a 50 gallon reef. the thing is i have worked REALy hard to get awsome coral and lr pieces. so starting new is not an idea. i have also thought of leaving them at a local fish store. <---not realy craazy about that idea. i would love to transfer my sand and water to my new tank but i dont think thats an option. any ideas from the board. im kind off helpless right now?

I guess i would say leave with teh cousin and set teh new tank up at the new house and after it cycles get the pieces and bring them to there new home. I would not risk putting the corals in till you are sure the new tank has cycled.Or you could wait till your ready to move break down your 30 gal in to buckets and take with you and reset up when you arrive then set up new tank and wait till it cycles then you could add some of your sand / water to the new tank which in turn should help it from having a long cycle process.

Im in the same boat as you right now. im moveing pry in a month or so and im upgradeing my 70g to a 150g deep. and i dont want to loose anything that ive worked so hard on staying a live. i would leave my tank with my cousin and then transport them to the new tank when its ready makeing shure not to rush anything. and just hope for the best

Do a search for moving... i know there are a couple good threads about it..
1 where a guy actually rigged up a DC power converter to run a couple power heads and a heater to put in a large plastic container for the long trip..
I myself am starting to think of a moving plan... we plan on moving in about a year and i wanna bump from a 55 to a 90 and hopefully do a super huge in wall display...
