need help with my canopy design

ok,
my tank is 48Lx18Dx20H at a 75G. i want to upgrade my lighting to either a better T5 combination or a decent MH fixture.
my current lighting is the nova extreme. what i had in mind was to take apart the nova, attach it to the inside of the canopy and add more T5 bulbs. the other option is to use metal halide. i don't have experience with metal halide, so i will take any option that is within my budget

i was thinking the height of the canopy could be 13". i don't know how to build to the wall or any of that good stuff, so could you guys give me some advice

Do a search and you will find specs and ideas from dozens of us that like to build our own stands and canopies.

I'll show you in about 3 weeks how our canopy turns out. We are getting the stand first in 2 weeks and then our cabinet maker will start on the canopy. It's going to be really custom canopy with moveable *shelves* for the lighting, fully opening front and a shelf above the whole canopy.
