Need help with my Naso!

My 6 inch Blond Naso has bumbs growing on his head. They appear to be under the skin or under the scales because the bumps are yellow or gray depending on the location. They are all right above his eyes/on his forehead. Some of the "bumps" appear to be broken open and there is some small open sores.
It is not ick or HLLE. I am afraid that he may have tumors or possibly abnormal skeletal/bone growth. Could this be some kind of fungus, hopefully? He eats like a pig and doesn't act any differently but the condition is slowly getting worse over the last few weeks. The tank is 250 gallons and their is nothing wrong with the water conditions. No symptoms on any of the other fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the help. He is in quarantine now. The majority of the bumps have broken open and show open sores but the size of the swelling has gone down. Hopefully he is on the road to recovery.
I'll let ya know in a week how he's doing!

Well so far no postive results. The swelling hasn't decreased any further and the open sores are real nasty looking. They appear to be spreading in a straight line down towards his mouth. Again he feeds and acts normal.
He has been in quarantine with a broad spectrum anti-biotic but no real progress. Without a positive diagnosis it is impossible to know what medicine to use. Let me know what you are trying and if it works....

Thank you for the help Terry. I put him back in the main tank for now - he was just very stressed in quarantine. I bought some Kent garlic xtreme stuff and hopefully it will help. I will leave him in the main tank for now unless his condition worsens. He just seems happier and healthier in the main tank; plus getting him out is tough in a 8 foot long tank.
His wounds and swelling seem to be going down on his forehead but is increasing down his nose towards his lips. I'll keep ya posted on his condition.

I can't post any pics yet. I loaned my digital camera to a friend and , well, you know how that goes. I'll get it back someday. But this is what I have done. After 10 days in quarantine I introduced him back into the main tank. He still had some swelling but the sores were all opened up. Real nasty looking. I started feeding brocolli as well as food soaked in Kent Garlic Xtreme. His swelling is all gone and the open sores are healing up nicely. The scarring won't be as bad as I initially thought. So everything looks OK! Thanks Terry for all your help.

how are you feeding brocolli to yor nasso. just letting it float around the tank? i started soaking his brine in garlic for the past week and his swelling is gone and his sores are starting to close up and go away. i have been feeding him kent platinum also. i have sent off for some seeweed select and will start feeding that to when it gets here. terry what do you think this may have been? it never spread to the other fish and mine did the same thing that dpittmans did. i would like to know for future questions.

Mine is healed and back to normal. His wounds looked really bad but they are healing up nicely and the scarring will be minimal. If he is not getting better than he is getting worse and you need to medicate him. Will your local LFS quarantine this fish for ya?
Go buy a 20 gallon tank and setup a QT today if not. They are cheap. You mentioned you "started doing water changes" Were you not doing them before? What are your nitrates at? I do about 15% of my 240 gallon tank weekly.
I feed mine seaweed, brocolli, formula 1 and 2, mysis, live brine. Soak stuff in garlic, zoe, selcon, etc. Good luck.

I feed em the brocolli head on a clip. How long have you lived on Whidbey? I used to live in Mukilteo right next to the Ferry that goes to Clinton. There is one LFS nearby that is really cool. Shoot me an email DPittman@seattlemortgage.com and we can work something out. Are you in the service???
