Need help with Nano I just got.

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was okay to use same filter and bio wheel? The nano was second hand, and of course in used condition. I don't know any history on it, whether if there were any illnesses or so forth. I am planning on setting this up for my zoo's to grow. They keep getting lost, moved around in the big tank.
Anyone have any comment?
If there was illness, or ich, wouldn't they have died by now? Tank is completely dried.

As long as you rinse everything really well with white vinegar or bleach I don't see a problem. I'd replace the filter innards though.
