My son turned his reef tank over to me after he moved out. It's a 55 gallon display tank with a 25 gallon sump. I need advice on what the proper lighting should be - intensity, how long to keep them on, etc. The lights I have aren't name brand. One has dual metal halide bulbs (150 watt each) and 8 sets of 2 blue LED lights. The other light I have is a dimmable white and/or blue LED. My tank has xenias, zoas, a few rose bulb tip anemones, leather coral, trumpets, rock flower, and a few other things.
About two months ago one of my kids adjusted the light settings and also fiddled with the light timer system. I didn't remember what the original settings/duration were to change them back. Since then, groups of my zoas have started closing and gradually fading away. My water parameters have been fine (see below). I can't detect any kinds of pests or any other problems that could be causing the problem with the zoas. So I assume that the change in lighting is the problem.
Can anyone tell me what light settings would be optimal based on the information above?
Thanks
pH 8.3, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 0, Calcium 440, Phosphate .25, Salinity 1.025, Temp Average 81
