I am just getting into the hobby, but I've researched a lot. I am trying to decide betwen the new JBJ 28g 150W HQI nano cube and a different tank with IFS. The JBJ nano cube will cost $500 with everything. The IFS tank will cost (after purchasing lighting) about $700, but will be much bigger.
I dont mind starting off small with the nano, but I know I will love it, so why not start big?? Im just looking for ANY and ALL insight into this decision.
I hate seeing the tanks with purple blotches all over and hair-looking stuff on the tank walls. Will either of these tanks be better for keeping clea?
THANKS!!

what kind of attention you pay to cleaning the tank your self and the quality of your clean-up crew will be the main factor on the tanks appearence. Sorry....but i think that the price for the 28gal is really high. when i was considering buying one for my wife i think it was in the neighborhood of $300. Just want to give you a heads up. Alot of people will say that a larger tank above 30 and below 60 would be easier to handle than an actual nano, but it is up to you and what you want in the tank.

Depends on what you want to put into the tank.
A smaller tank obvioulsy limits the types and amount of species you can put into the tank, and the amount of effort to keep pristine water conditions is also directly realted to the size of the tank.
I have a 55G and it's not nearly large enough to support the diversity I was looking for.
