I have always liked VHO. If you do not want to spend the money on a halide system than VHO is the way to go. Thay make kits with ballasts that will fit in your canopy. Or, you can order them seperatly and DIY. Either way is easy.
Some like PC. I had them on my 75 reef and never saw alot of growth, except for the coraline algea. As far as my corals though, they lived and opened well but never really grew that much. Once I put VHO on the tank, it exploded with life. My leathers started to grow and my brains started to expand.
This is just my experience though, some others hae had good luck with PCs as well.

Just buy an Icecap 660 with two 48" 110 watt 10,000k's and two blue atintic's online for $300 or less, with this set up you be cooking with gas on a 75G.

75 G lighting for Reef tank
Lighting are depending on what do you want to keep.
If you want to keep softies and LPS. 4x110 VHO would do the job.
You can also think about 2x250 W MH and 2(4)x40 W NO or 2x110 W VHO or 4x55 W PC actinic. Which does not limmit you to any corals. The lighting upgrade are also depending on your bugget.
I have 2x110 VHO and 2x40 NO on my reef. Which I currently have Softies and some LPS. But I am planing upgrading my light to 2x250 W MH (6500K) and 4x40 NO or 4x55 PC atinic.
