need help

Hi, I am new to this saltwater, but i set up a small 20 galH aquarium to learn. Read alot of pages on setup. It has 20lbs of live rock it is about 9 days old. Everything look good, went to the beach for 3 days came home brown hairy stuff on rock and bottom . Not much but some.What can i do to fix it

Its peferctly normal,its going thru its cycle,the brown hairy stuff is called a diatom bloom and it will go away with time.Have you got any fish or inverts in your tank?

did you use a dsb and water from you local fish store, or did you mix your own water. I also have a 20 gallon set up just for sea horses i also used 20 pound of rock a dsb and water from my local fish store and i never had any brown algae. My tank completely cycled with in the first week it was set up. What type of filter are you using and how do your water tests read?

I mixed the water myself. i have a skilter 250 w/ protein skimmer built in.I have a saltwater test kit and eveything is right with the water.
