My Pixy Hawkfish has been keeping it's mouth open for about 12 hours. It is not acting weird except for this. The gills look fine and aren't moving extremely fast. Could anyone give me some advice please! The water test are normal so I don't know what to do. Last water change one and a half weeks ago. Tank has been cycled for over two months with hermit crabs and starfish. Hawkfish was added six days ago and has been eating good, frozen brine shrimp and krill.

Is the fish eating? Is it possible that other fish began harassing this fish? Check out the body real well for any signs of ripped fins, marks, etc. Watch the tank [don't let the fish see you watching] to see if you see any aggression. Notice any swelling around the gills? Look at the fins and see if you see any ich [sometimes hard to notice].
If you have a magnifying glass give the fish a good look with it and see if you see other problems.

He has eaten but not very much. The gills don't look abnormal to me but that don't mean they aren't. I turned off the lights and shined a flashlight on it to check for spots but don't see any. And, he is the only fish in the tank. The inverts look fine. Is it possible for him to have jaw lock or has over eaten. I was feeding it Frozen brine shrimp and krill twice a day. Thanks for your response.
