okay i just recently was given a saltwater setup which my nephew had for 2 years. i added some live rock and a anomine. i woke up yesterday and the clowns kicked sand all over the tank digging a huge hole in the front left. i contacted a local dealer near me and he seems to think that the clowns had layed the eggs and buried them or they were just cleaning house to lay them. has anyone ever heard of this?

Many clowns will kick sand around from time to time...no ones really sure why they do it.....They dont lay and bury their eggs in/with sand...
They lay on rocks ( near their host for protection ) and then stay and guard then..fanning water over them for the around 10 days that it typically takes for them to become free swimming fry.

Clowns don`t bury their eggs , they lay them on a rock or somewhat flat surface and lay them laterally .
