If I understand correct your running closed loop for JUST the skimmer, not for flow correct?
You just want to remote mount or cant fit the skimmer in your sump right?.
If this is the case then why the size requirements for plumbing? Or rather why not just adjust plumbing as needed?

not running a sump.running 2 closed loop systems with 2 gen x 4
pumps and 2 nu-clear filters going to t off from one system and ball valve the pressure on both ends to support flow for skimmer
if that makes sense.if not i'll bulkhead 3/4"and make those just for skimmer
