sounds like a siphon and dump issue. does your setup come with a tube that extends above the water line which you can raise and lower?
if you take a look at my modified durso (basicly the same idea but no stand pipe) i have a tube that i can raise and lower to allow air into the line to keep from starting a siphon. you may not have a tube, but there may be a T in the pipe that is open at the top?

usually adjusting the height of the air hole will allow you to control gurgles and siphon/dump.

ok i would take a pic but im useing the neighbors computer and in this small town we are stuck with dial up till summer when we git amazinly fast dsl!!!! (hint sarcasim)!! there is a lil clear piece coming out of the top of the intake! rasing or lowering i dont think it can do that? i cant find a pic to show something close to it? man this sucks

is it open on top to let air in? if so, you may be able to pop a piece of airline tubing on top with valve on it to control the air flow.

yea its open i just put a piece of airline on that part coming out the pipe! i blew on it it raised the water level up and has stayed there so far! keeping fingers crossed but.......i think it has worked then its staying put and its quiet now!!

great! keep an eye on it, you may need to do some tweaking with a valve to get the air intake just right... adjusting the amount of flow will help you alleviate issues with burping, gurgling and the siphon and dump issue giving you a quieter and more stable setup.
