As of right now i have a 150g tank, 72 inches long, with PC lighting. Ive hopefully saved up enough money to up grade to metal halide lights. What i wanted to do is get 3 reflectors, 3 HQI bulbs, and 3 ballasts, so i can measure and build a canopy to house them in after i get the lights. Im pretty much set on the bulbs. i was looking at this bulb:
14,000K Phoenix HQI "Double Ended" - 250W
But im kinda unsure about the reflectors and ballasts. i was either going to get:
1) Sunlight Supply Reef Optix 3 Plus 250W Double Ended HQI Reflector or
2) Sunlight Supply Lumen Max 3 250W Double Ended HQI Reflector
On the description of the reef optiz 3, it says that it includes the sockets, but on the lumen max it dosent say that. They are both 95% reflective.
For ballasts i havent really looked around, but was considering and ice cap electronic ballast for a 250w HQI bulb.
One quick question about ballasts, do you need an electronic ballast for an HQI bulb and a magnetic ballast for a regular mh bulb, or does it not matter, and which one is better?? i was leaning more towards electronic, am i right?
thanks for looking
