i got some more live rock about a month ago and yesterday when i went to turn on the lights in the morning i saw about 10 tiny little sea stars running for cover. the sea stars are white and have five arms. they are about an inch from arm to arm. i also discovered something that looks like a sponge on the live rock. wondering what kind of stars they are and if they will all fit inside a 125gal tank and how big & fast do they grow.
sorry for the pictures they are best i can get right now.
first one is the sponge thing
second is the sea stars

I believe these are called asternia starfish. I have heard they are a good thing--meaning a healthy tank and usually reproduce quickly by dropping a leg here and there and regenerate. They can have different amounts of legs. I found 2 in my rock one with 7 legs athe other with 3 legs. They aren't suppose to get big though. But can get to be too many as they spread.
