I have a 150gal reef tank. I am going to move this weekend. I am getting mixed signals from my area fish stores. The tank has a very deep sand bed, and has been establilshed for about 3 years. The sand is to heavy to move in the tank. Should I replace all of the sand, or should I keep and use the sand i have now. One of my local fish stores says that I am going to release some dangerous bacteria into the system, and the other says use the same sand, it will be fine. Has anybody experienced any problems during a move, do you reuse the same sand??? what do you guys think?? thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Reuse the sand. Yes there will be a cycle. You will most likely lose 25-50% of the stuff in the sand. But live sand is live sand. If possible leave fish in large container for a week. Something like a kids splash pool. No Not perty but they will be ok. If you have corals put them with the fish. After a week of cycling with the sand and your live rock, 50% water change and drip your fish with new water put them in. My 2 cents
