need suggestions for a QT filter

I bought a simple sponge filter a while ago expecting to use it for my QT. I kept it in the sump of my DT to build up some good bacteria. Unfortunately, after I attached the air pump I realized that it is the NOISIEST filter I have ever heard!

It makes a REALLY loud 'air bubble popping' sound and expels a steady stream of big air bubbles that pop on the surface of the water. I really can't stand the noise of this filter, and honestly can't see how it's going to be effective. All of those bubbles on the surface of the water are probably going to freak out any fish that goes into the QT.
I would really appreciate any suggestions that anyone has for a QT filter!!
(I'm expecting to take this QT apart when not in use, as well as use it as a hospital tank if needed.
Here's a picture of the current one......any one have any better ideas??

I know exactly what you mean about the loud bubbles! I gave up with sponge filters. I use an Aqueon Quiet Flow hang on back filter and just shove the sponge from a sponge filter into the back chamber when it needs to be used to QT fish. The Quiet Flow is very quiet and really cheap!

I haven't had a new fish in ages until recently, but I took an existing piece of filter floss from the horse tank and tucked it into the filter for the QT tank. Like TommieLynn, when I had the big tank active I just kept a sponge for an Aqueon and a biowheel for a Marineland filter just floating in the water flow of the sump of the display tank. Remember you CAN"T put these back in your DT if you see signs of ich or treat the tank for any reason. Buy new ones and throw the new sponge in the sump to start over.
