I have a custom sea life 250 wtt ballast that has a bad switch. its basicly a black box with a up/down switch on the front. The switch is really loose and when you go to turn it on, you really have to play with it to get it to come on. Is there a way to fix this??
I havent taken it apart yet.

Can you show a picture? If it is a rocker switch you may be able to get one from your local electrical supply house like maybe Graingers???? Probably have to take the existing switch out and take it to the local store.

Pull the switch out and take it to HD. Im pretty sure you can find something to work there in the electrical isle

Should be just a basic swap. You need not even worry about finding an exact replacement, anything that fits the hole should work, or you can drill a new hole right next to the existing switch, move the wires, and either abandon the old switch, or pull it out and cover the old hole with a bit of electrical tape.
I hate to send you here, but I know for sure they have a part that'll work.. Radio Shack has some rocker switches that fit into a 3/4" hole. Most people don't have a 3/4" drill bit, but you can get one from Home Depot or Lowe's for a decent price. Go to Radio Shack's web site, it's PN: 275-692
Just ignore the "lighted" part. You could wire it up to light up, but you don't need to.
