LFS is going out of business. They have a 85 gallon tank with a home made canopy and stand, comes with heater, filters, etc. However, this is for a freshwater. And I want to use it as a saltwater tank, so don't really need anything but the tank, canopy & stand....Do you think $225 is a good price for an 85 gallon tank?

That is excellent........Usually that would run about 600 or so around where I live. But also witha canopy and stand?? Yeah that is pretty good. You can certainly use the filter they provide although you would have to get more but that standard lighting would only be okay for a fish only tank.

Yeah, that's defintely a good deal.
When I was shopping around for a 75g setup with hood & canopy, there was nothing (new) for under $500.
Of course, there are many used setups (even bigger) around that price on craigslist.

It is glass. The stand is sweet because it looks like its made for a refugium at the bottom, the front opens up to a lot of room underneath. Top isn't so hot needs new molding and supports for lights put in. Other than that its a great tank, in my opinion....

California is known for being expensive for many things... I guess tanks isn't one of them.
I look forward to the pics.

well thats nice for you...haha
I looked on E-BAYYY and they wanted 370 for the same tank so, I feel it was a good deal for michigan standards....I wonder what you would pay for something like this in LA though...?
