Well i have a tank with crushed coral. Now in about a month or so. i like to change my tank to a reef tank. I was thinking how to do i do you think i can put live sand over the crushed coral.. what do you guys think about that. How do i start putting in things when the fish are in there. i have had my tank up for 6 months.. i bought a fish about 2 month ago and the fish had a diease and brought it into the tank, it killed my yellow tang and a lie tail. the store i get my fish from, i dont go there no more because ive had some bad fish from there it sucks when the store cant take care of the fish they have. well if you can give me more help on the reef thing thank..

You don't say what your current setup is. Do you have live rock and how many fish do you have? What lighting are you using? Filtration?
You DEFINATELY need to get rid of the crushed coral. Crushed coral will only be a waste collection area and it will not support the biodiversity that you need for a reef. I would suggest that you begin anew with your substrate. Sand and, at least, seeded with Live Sand.
Do you have a good book on reef systems? If not, get one [or 2] and read, read, read before you start a reef system. It will be well worth your while.
Good luck!
