Neon Goby

Was at the fish store today and saw they had some neon gobys i thought they were pretty cool and would be perfect for my 40 gal. was wondering if i could have more than 1 in my tank? I didn't ask the LFS because most likely they would have said yes then tried to have sold me a lion fish...

as long as you have an insulated extension cord to plug them in, why not? I would imagine the neon would look cool at night!

The Neon Goby can get aggressive with other gobies in smaller tanks but you may get away with keeping multiples in larger tanks, especially mated pairs.

I think a couple of neons would be OK, altho maybe a trio would be better. I've seen a trio living in the incurrent siphon of a T. gigas, and the clam didn't seem to mind at all.

A 40g is considered a small saltwater tank...my book says only one per tank

Most books recommend one per tank, but if you can get mated pairs or a male along with females this is doable. The question is how do you sex a goby.
