Never Leave Your Tank In Care of a Friend >.

I trusted my tank in the hands of a friend. He was supposed to take care of my tank, but ended up leaving the RO switch on which resulted in my tank being flooded with fresh water >.<. Since, the water overflowed in the subtank my moss was free to get sucked into everything. No one noticed that my nitrate reactor was plugged. If you don't know if a nitrate reactor is not working it produces nitrates instead of removing them. As a result by the time I got back and noticed the problem my nitrates were already over 110 >.<. Everything else dropped drastically due to the massive amount of fresh water. Surprising God must really love me since absolutely nothing died. Everyone still seems to be doing alright. I am currently in the process of doing major water changes. I already did a 30% water change on Sunday and will do another one on Tuesday and Friday. I have never had nitrates over 20 so I am wondering if there is anything else I can do.

I'm glad all is well after that! Folks just don't know what to do in case something goes wrong or to even look for something going wrong. We give instructions but they are only good if all is running as it should. It would take months to train a person on how everything runs, and what each piece of equipment does, and what happens if that equipment fails.
If you wrote it down is would read like a boring book to them. I bet there is a market for SW fish tank sitters that actually know what to do.

I have someone watch my house when we go on vacation. The first couple of times did not go so well but she does a decent job now. Sounds like you are getting lucky!
