You can say that again.
Aiptasia anemone is a plague and a good reason why live rock should be quarantined before adding it your tank.

are they also called glass anemonies, thats what one of the guys at my lfs was calling it
you are right, but they arent nessecarily the same thing. all mojano & aiptasia are glass anemones, but not all glass anemones are pests. i got a curly q anemone on my very first piece of live rock, and had it for over a year. it was hardy as hell, it got really big, and it was ugly, but it never split once. i really liked it. it just depends.

just be sure that it is an anemone before killing it there are several things that can resemble apistia that arent. so dont freak just because you found something in there get a pic and positive ID on it. Unless you are sure it is an aptasia anemone then take care of it quickly.

Mojano anemone? I know what an aiptasia is, but what is a mojano? I have a small (~1.5in) salmon-pink anemone on the underside of a piece of my LR with clear tentacles ending in tiny opaque bubbles. I'll try to get a pic, but is this a mojano? if not, can anyone venture a guess as to what it is? It doesn't seem to get much light at all yet it apparently thrives. I like it, but if it's harmful I'll definitely kill it.

No thats not a mojano, thats a ball anemone. And they avoid light.
Hmm seems I have seen several id requests for ball anemones in past few days.
would that be a "Vu j'ID"

darkelf3769 yours is most likely a Pseudocorynactis. Google and read up on them before deciding you course of action.
Blackjacktang, it did not sting you but is very strong towards other coral in your tank.

A 100% Yes! They have sponges and some corals that are venimous to touch. Do a google search about it.

instead of just saying 'zomg kill it on site' you might list all the critters that eat aiptasia, like copperband butterflies and stuff. it will help alot of people i'm sure.

The funny part is a lfs i visited in maryland had a tank with ALL glass, and rock anemonee O_O imo i thought it was pretty cool but no fish lol
