I am running 2- 250w Ice cap retro kits, with SE 10,000k XM, spider reflectors on my 135. I like 'em cause they'll fire any 250 watt lamp. But the PAR is better with the HQI's. Of course a better reflector can make all the difference. If I was to recommend something it would be Icecap ballast, with Lumenarc reflectors. DE bulbs will generally yield more PAR, but seems like better variety of single ended out there. The difference is generally nominal. I'd stick with SE myself.
