Im not new to the saltwater fish hobby but I am new the the saltwaterfish.com message boards. I have a new 24 gallon aquapod, right now there is only about 10 pounds of rock and 20 pounds of live sand in it. I replaced the stock pump with an azoo 1800 that has a flow rate of like 475 gph. I have ordered a 250 watt metal halide for it and when that comes i am going to replace the bulb with a current hqi 14000k bulb. There is also a koralia 1 & 2 in it. I do have a couple questions though. First what would be a good skimmer for the setup? Second when i filled the tank up with water the back compartment, which is the filter area, filled up with water also. This just dosn't seem right. Shouldn't there be space for the water to overflow? Right now in the filter area there is carbor, the ring things that came with it, and the filter sponge. Any advice would help.

I got my 250 watt metal halide light yesterday. I have a question though. If I get a 20000k bulb, will I need any supplemental lighting?

well to answer your first question I really wouldn't use a skimmer. As long as you do the proper water change and clean the tank your good. My friend does that and his water is perfect. Now for your second question idk. It should have holes in them so the water could go through.
