New 24 jbj (non-dx)

I just bought a used jbj 24 gallon nanocube (non-dx) and was wondering If anyone has one with coral in it. If so did you have to upgrade the lighting set up or anything else on it before adding coral? I've looked at the jbj dx's and they have the special moon light and stuff, I think in time if the need is great enough I might buy a modified lid for the cube with better lighting so the coral I get will thrive.

I have an 2004 NC24 without moonlights. If I am not mistaken the lighting is the same for all of the 24 gallon cubes. 72 watts. You can keep softies, ie., mushrooms, GSP, zoos, rics, etc. I have a open brain that is doing great and a branching torch that is growing like mad. The hoods are different, however the differences are the hinges and the splash guard. The fans are also covered on the 2005 models.
Hope this helps.

I have an open brain in my stock 24NC and it does fine. It's huge actually. As far as SPS and such, most people will suggest that you need MH. I have never kept hard coral so I am not sure. You can retro a 70W MH into the hood of your cube. It's not a cheap mod by any means, but people have done it. As a matter of fact I just posted in another thread about someone adding a 70W MH and 54W of PC for a total of 196W!! As soon as I get time and find a temporary hood I am going to have him make me one!!
