Looks good. Please keep us posted on the bare bottom, I have been seriously considering converting. I love how yellow your ponies look, mine are all white, so yours look wild!

Dwarfs usually require a species only tank. They are different than other tanks because aside from snails, you really don't have a cleanup crew. Rykna has babies in the tank as well as one adult, I think. With the dwarfs you feed live bbs and you have to feed a large quantity. It is a fine line between providing them the food they need without crashing your tank. Removing the sand bed would remove a place for bad stuff to hang out.

Unfortunately, Aiptasia get a free ride into your tank via LR and/or LS. While on a 2 week vacation I lost 80% of my pony family to these evil pests. The family now consists of Titan, the father, and 4 babies. I am killing the LS and LR in another tank. When the process is done, it will be sterile and void of Aiptasia or any other threats to horses.
So, for now I am leaving the tank bare, with only the minimal of pony comforts. The Corky Gorgonian is a big hit for hitching post choices. In the weeks to come the end result will look some thing like this

I was thinking that it would be alot easier to clean up any possible buildup off of the bare bottom and be able to see that you weren't sucking up any ponies, which is a definite plus. I was sucking up some gunk yesterday with a baster and sucked up a baby that I did not see! BTW, still have 4 and they are growing so fast!

so if i use a bare bottom and put in dead rock and then maybe 2 pieces of my live rock out of my 90 gallon reef which is about 5 years old i should be ok so the pods can then multiply and i already know whats on and where the rock came from???
thanks

Most successful pony tanks contain NO liverock. You would be surprised what can hitchhike in that would be beneficial to a normal tank but dangerous to dwarves. For pods, you can see that several of the seahorse owners use a cheap, plastic soap dish to hold chaeto or other greenery. Most of what you see in the pony tanks here is man made as far as rock and hitching posts. Mine hitch on both dead and live gorgonians (fan type).

The bare bottom is a choice of time. The only reason the 29 has a bare bottom right now is I'm waiting to finish sterilizing/killing the LS and LR. I'll be filling the tank with DS and DR. I will/would not put any type of LS or LR into my Pony tank that had not been dead to start with. That is how my Aiptasia invasion began. I had used LR and water from my 90 gallon reef.
The pony's mouthes are so tiny I doubt very much they would be interested in pods. The main way, I currently use, of keeping water quality in pony tanks is water changes, more water changes, and even more water changes. There are VERY few, if any tank mates that can be kept with ponies. So besides decorative dead coral or dead rock hitching posts and dead substrate of your choice, that's about it. Also for health safety and water quality purposes, that's about all a 10 gallon can support when it comes to seahorses.

I'll second this. I love the soap plant/hitching posts. My ponies prefer to hang on to my corky gorg.

When you said that about your corky finger, I was going to move mine but it is waaayy too big but I did frag off a piece of my fan and they love it and it has never looked happier. I have never seen the feeders stretch out so far. It loves the bbs!
I did find a bbs cheat though. If I put my brine shrimp hatchery setup up on top of my lights, the heat seems to force a quicker hatch. The downside is that they die if left on the light very long after they hatch. I am getting a hatch in about 6 - 8 hours now.

She has plenty of room for some ponies from Florida (hint hint). My 10 became 14, I thought I had two pregnant males but actually there are 4, so who knows how many I will have soon.

Thanks

Well for now...it will sit bare for another 2 weeks or so while I flush out the 4 inch sand bed and 45 lbs of LR in the 90.
So far everyone has settled in nicely. I've been playing with the flow, my hopes are that in a bigger tank the flow can be a little higher~so far that seems to work. Now, by watching the sediment I'm finding out where the dead parts are. Titan has taken a special liking to hitching on the Corky, he spends a good part of the day lazily snicking bbs that come with in range. The kids are growing like weeds too, but all 5 are definitely lonely, especially Titan. As soon as I get my pay check I'm definitely ordering more ponies. Eventually I want to get more gorgonians too.

Cool! I think one of the males is going tonight, like the other one, he is not eating and is staying low in the tank and is by himself. His pouch is so tight, it looks like it is going to burst! He definitely looks fuller of babies than the first one. Fingers crossed!
I can ship you ponies and as many baby squirrels as you want. I have twelve foster babies and am running out of places to release them, lol. Beware of the boucing box!

That would be wonderful!!! Titan is so lonely.
What kind of squirrels did you say they were?
