I am picking up the tank tomarrow it is a 55 gallon and i have a few questions
What kind of lighting should i have(Yes it is a reef I want to be able to have brains and anemmones and some polyps)?
what are some good fish

I have been on a rant tonight about Domino Damsels. Dont get them they are the meanest fish ever. I would get some small fish. I say go with at least 100 pounds of LR and a decent set of MH. Good luck and be patient...

well i got a 55gal too.. no no no no damsels. they get mean. i know they're cheap, but cheap isnt the best way to go. clowns, gobies, reefsafe wrasses, blennies. maybe a smaller tang. yea i got about 80lbs live rock in mine. as for lighting, anemones need lots of light. so u could save money and go straight to metal halides or u could get power compacts or vhos. if u go wiht pc or vho make sure u get something u can upgrade later, i knnow u will want to.!!!! i did it. i started on a pc fixture. then i built a canopy and took apart the pc and retro fit into the canopy, with a pair of mh. so i really didnt lose money since i used my pc. anyway as for fish i got these fish in my tank.
1 sixline wrasse
2 black sebae clowns
1clown goby
1 spotted mandarin( wait untill ur tank is atleast 6mons old.
1 scooter blennie
1 watchman goby
2 neon gobies(cleaner gobies)
1 sand sifter goby
1 convict tang
1 hippo tang
1 yellow tang
um think thats it??? i did have 2 firefish but my pistol shrimp ate them( i hate that guy!!!!lol
man thats alot of gobies!! and im getting a bigger tank for the tangs so thats y there in their. and i got a 10gal sump with 20lbs more lr in it. and a good skimmer. but thats just to give u some ideas, i wouldnt recommend gettting that many fish.

yeai know, alot were impuse buys!!!!! but most of them are small. the neons are about 34in. and the watchman is always hideing with his pistol shrimp. then everyone else is either 1in-1 12in. and the tangs are about 2-3in. so it doesnt look like that many. my water is fine, no problems. and everyone is happy!!!!lol :jumping:

yeap that would work. i got 2x175mh and 4x65pc for the actinics. i kinda wish i got the 250w cause its only a little bit more. but im happy with the 175s. im glad u like it, i love it! pretty much all the extra money i get goes into it. lol
