Hi
I just bought a 65 gall. tank with filters heater ect. I bought used and it also came with a 4inch blue tang. Right it is in a rock in a bucket "slepping". I don't want to leave him in there for much longer. ( been in there for 3 hours.) What should I do!!!!!!

How big is the bucket? Do you have any filtration going into the water? Is there any water movement?
If it is in a good size bucket add a heater and a powerhead. If it is to small go to walmart and buy a bucket. A plastic storage container works the best. Add the powerhead and the heater to the bucket. You can use the bucket for water changes after that.

I forgot to ask what are you going to do with your new tank. How are you going to set it up? If you are going to need to add all new water, rock, and sand you do need to take the fish to a lfs. He will die in ANY bucket. Dont try getting the fish in your tank as fast as you can. If you are totaly re-setting up the tank your going to need to cycle the tank.

What is happing is I got the tank and the tang was in the bucket. He had a rock to stay in. All the lf were closed. I did put most new water in but not all. I did not want to leave him in the bucket so I put him in Last night. Right now he is doing fine swimming fine. Thats whats up.

With deligence you may be able to get away with this. Depending on how much old water, l/r, l/s etc. you had to "restart" the tank, it really should not recycle that long. If everything in the tank was new or no longer had beneficial bacteria, then the tank will go through a full cycle and it's best to bring him to lfs. No need to have the tang suffer even if it were to live through it.

The tank came with the crushed coral from the old use. The filters are the same. He is still doing good. I made the tank look very close to what it was befor.
