What supplements should I use for the coral and do I put it before I add coral
Hi,
Not a thing. Do your cycle, and after you start adding corals (doing homework first to make sure how to care for it) do your water tests...trace elements such as calcium or iodine must first be tested for, before you ever dose a thing to find out if you even need to. Make this your mantra...NEVER, EVER dose anything, without testing for it first.
As for food, keep in mind, what feeds corals feeds algae and adds extra nutrients, so before you have corals it makes no sense to feed the tank...all you would be doing is polluting it. Using a reef salt mix designed for a reef tank, will help a great deal...Instant ocean reef crystals for example has a larger concentration of calcium then regular Instant ocean salt mix. Select the brand you want to use and stay with it, switching isn't good once the corals are used to a certain brand.
