Gotcha. Just be careful. I had one that was going to be temporary too. He was only 3" but managed to eat (even though 1/2 of it was hanging out of it's mouth) a 2.5" Royal Gramma. Oh, and I fed the Panther PLENTY too.

You will be amazed at what they can fit in their mouth.

eventually it will eat it. By then you should find it a bigger tank. Im sure you know this though. Good luck in the meantime

What size pvc piping are you using? You going to use a mag drive pump?

i used 1 1/2 inch pvc and a mag 9.5
but i had some issues with the bulkheads leaking then the sump leaking so i put 2 hob filters on it and now it is holding fish that i catch that are pending to go to the LFS for store credit.

sorry to hear of the problems. nothing more aggrivating than a DIY that has issues..

Why would you get a fish thats temporary ? They not only grow fast but as part of the grouper family thier moutn expands to fit fish that you would think are way too big. Mine went from two inches to 8 inches in six months. They can get 30 inches. They are awesome looking fish ( especially juveniles ) but produce a ton of waste. I would definately run a skimmer on a tank with a fish that produces the waste that he will be.
