I'm planning on starting a 75g FOWLR system and looking for advise to make sure I don't forget anything. Here is how I plan to set it up....
75gal Aquarium
AquaC Remora Hang-on Protien Skimmer
2 - Pumps to for current on either side of the aquarium
100lbs Cured Live Rock
Live Sand Bottom 2" deep
RO Saltwater
Lightining- 2 Metal Halide 150HQI + 2-55w CP Fluorescents
Saltwater Test Kit
Am I missing anything? Should I be able to run this system with this set up ?
I really would rather not run a sump if i can get away with it.
Also, how often should I do water changes? and what percentage ?

MH lighting is a little overkill for a FOWLR (i.e., no corals), but if you like it and are willing to pay extra for lighting, go for it.
Without a sump and using that skimmer, just watch your bioload, i.e., be careful with how many fish you add and how much you feed them. I'd recommend at least a 10% weekly water change.

If i ran it without a sump, id be doing a 30% water change every 2 weeks depending on what fish you have in there. If they are heavy eaters, def. if smaller/ less messy eaters, you could cut it down to 15% every other.

I'm going with the metal halide because knowing me, I'll end up wanting some coral. Now I'm thinking about going with a 90g tank. From what I see on this forum using sump is the way to go for the best filteration for bigger aquariums. I think that is the way I'm going to go. Now just got to figure out how to build my sump....

15 gallon difference isnt huge. The 90 is a tad taller. Same length and width. Might as well go 125 at that point.

Make it a 240; once the addiction kicks in , you'll thank me.
