New Acan. Have some questions

Hey guys, I just got this acan a few days ago. It seems to be doing well, it has four heads, with 2 baby heads coming out of the bottom. As you can see I have it on the sand now, but should I put it on a rock to spread? The acan is attached to a plug, and I have a small circular rock that I can fit the plug into. Or should I place it on a bigger rock? Or just keep it on the sand? Also how often can I feed it? I fed all the heads yesterday with a mixture of mysis shrimp, and cyclopeeze. And last question is how fast can these guys grow if I feed them often?

You can either put a rock around or not depends on what you want. The acan will encrust a rock. The acan will grow its own thicker skeleton if no rock is presented. The acans tend to "mound" if not provided a rock to encrust, they also grow slower this way. You can feed them daily if your tank can handle the excess neutrients. I feed mine mysis and chuncks of table shrimp (raw ofcourse) soaked in Zoe and Zoe con. Hope this helps

When you say "mound" do you mean they will grow up, instead of across? Eventually when it spreads, I would like to frag, but would it be easier to frag if its on the sand, or attached to a rock?

growth rate depends on type of acan. Some grow super fast and others seem to not grow at all. I have my acans on the sand bed but attached them to some type of rock/plug. They grow fast and you can frag and sell them quicker.

Oh gotcha. You dont know what type my acan is, and how fast its growth would be do you? I guess I would need to ask an expert of acans?
Yep thats exactly why I wanted to keep it on the sand, I just think it would be easier to frag off the sand, rather than a big rock.
Thanks
