New addition to NMReef...*_^

I've been wanting to add a montipora for a long time now but the only place I've seen them available is from on-line vendors and I've never purchased any coral on-line...I just like to be able to see and evaluate corals individually. A few days ago I made the 110 mile trip(one-way) to my favorite LFS and the owner says..." I've got something you've been looking for"...he had 3 and this is the one I picked...

The photo quality is not the best due to limitations of my digital...the colors are actually a very bright greenish from the center out and the edges have a reddish tint...

I am seriously hopeful that this little beauty does as well as I have seen others do...despite the limitations of my current lighting(260 watts of 10k pc & 220 watts of VHO super actinic)...This is my 4th addition that continues my venture into SPS type corals...I have a staghorn/blue ridge/and 2 small acropora frags that to date have done well. My intention is to gain valuable experience with these corals and in the future develope a larger system with MH/VHO lighting. For now these are a learning experience....still I have every intention of keeping them alive and well in my current system!

Good luck with the new addition! Youll have to keep us updated as time goes by. Acroporas are extremely interesting to me, but around here they are hard to come by. I only have one now and its from an online purchase because there are no LFS around here that carry them. Hopefully it does well for you. ;)

Nice addition NM...montipora's and the plating varieties in particluar seem to grow very quickly and adapt to lighting and current better than other SPS. I think it will do fine. Good luck!

Very cool, not sure, but I doubt thats a Montipora sp. Looks more like Pavona, although it resembles another genus that I cant think of right now, I will see if i can find it. Of course its hard to tell from a pic :)
