I have a 29 gallon tank, it has a bio-wheel, a heater and a 20w marine-glo lamp light on top. I have live sand and a full tank of salt water (no fish). I want to get live rock and then get fish after that tank is ready. I am really new and not sure what i should get before adding live rock? and what i do after i have live rock that would be differnt than before. Also my tank is close to a window is that going to be a problem? i feel that i need a step-by-step how to do a salt water tank. i just want to do it right please help Thanks

You should be able to add the lr now. It will help cycle your tank if it hasn't already. If you don't have test kits, you should get some of those too. Without testing, you have no way of knowing if the tank has cycled, or if your parameters are where they are supposed to be. There is a thread at the top of this category that lists all kinds of links for new hobbyist with exact step by step tips. Best wishes, and welcome to the boards

you will defineatly want to move your tank out of any direct sunlight no matter what time of the day it is there should be no sunlight hitting your tank causes major algea problems) and also it should be nowhere that a heat or air vent can blow on it

You should go out and get The Conscientious Marine Aquarist and Simplifeid Reef Keeping. After you read those or while your reading them look through these forums, or do a search for any questions you have. You really should have read a book or talked to someone before you bought the tank.
