New anemone

I recently purchased an anemone, my tank has been up for a little over a month. I came home from work and it had turned brown and started shrinking up. I don't know what is wrong with it. What should I do?

Hi,
Anemones shrink up and purge themselves, they are supposed to be brownish, not white and bleached out, so there is nothing wrong with it when it does that.
Now for the crash course on anemones:

[*]
They need very strong lighting
, unless it's one of the nocturnal tube anemones. (the one pictured, needs the super strong lights) Metal halides, or powerful LEDs.
[*]
They go where they want, they have no eyes or brain...they follow the water flow. That means you need to cover all power heads and intake tubes, or it will commit sushi by getting sucked up. Don't bother it, or try to place it where you want it. It will find it's own happy place to stay, at least for a bit before to goes on the move again.
[*]
A detached anemone is an unhappy anemone.
Next...1 month is not long when you are talking about a SW fish tank. Anemones don't do well in new systems (too many fluctuations), they need a stable system of at lest 6 months.
They are natural fish eaters, so any critter stupid enough to get too close is lunch. What it doesn't eat, it stings to death.
Last, they are sensitive to nitrates...over 20 and they die. Phosphates at 1 is another killer.
