New aquarium substrate!

I was thinking about putting about an inch of sand in my 55 gallon tank and placing shroom frags every 3" to 5" apart on the sand bed and letting them completely cover the bottom of the tank.
I think it would look cool
what does everyone think...would it work?

souds like a really cool idea, I have no expreience with mushrooms but I cant find any problems. hopefully someone else can be more helpful...

i think the main problem here would be the mushrooms tendency to move around when they're not happy. they most likely will not like the floor of the tank because of the lack of 3d water movement and they will just move covering your entire tank in an outbreak of mushrooms.
a better bet would be an entire mat of zoas.

i just think would look cool and eliminate the need for sand sifters
