New Bio cube 29g question?

Just got a new Bio cube 29g at local Petsmart for $100! The light was broke so they sold it for a discount. I talked to a couple of people on here and fixed the light last night and all works great (wire in hood pulled).
So to get started I have beeb looking at all posts (big fans of Spanko, Nissan, Na No-NeWbi, Rebel, Whisk etc) I have my fuge already in the back, but have just a couple of questions?
In chamber #1 did you guys cut out the bottom partition to fit your heater and Chem in that area? Same for chamber #2 did you cut out the bottom ledge?
In chamber #3 it has a min. fill line and a max fill like what is this for the water level. Sorry no book came with this and I have never seen a tank in person. Thanks!

Quan, welcome and I hope you are a fan of mine too..
, j/k.
Question #1- push the false floor down and it will pop right out
Question #2- use a screwdriver, fork....and it will pull out
Question #3- That line is for wet/dry sump system, but if you are modding just ignore it and fill the tank up to your "needed" level.
Hope that helps and lets get some pics!!
Oh and go to Oceanic's website they have a schematic so you can see the breakdown of you tank.

So Quandary,
welcome to SWF! As you have seen there are a lot of nano cube owners ready willing and able to help you out, and to learn from your experiences. Sounds like you have done some homework up front and have a basic understanding of where you want to go with this. Well done! Keep asking questions and most importantly, we are all picture crazies here. Post some up and let us follow along.

Rudy
I don't want to take over Quan's thread with pics and info of my setup, but the fuge is made by CPR.

Thanks Spanko I already have lots of questions! On your tank I like the idea of what you have going on in Compartment #2. Do you have the Cheato on top and then your Chem pure on the bottom? (and is that Elite?). Right now in #2 I have the Cheato in a aquarium breeding trap and not a cup. Added some floats under each end to hold up some of the live rock at the bottom of the breeder and then 4oz of Cheato on top.
I believe Nissan has his Chem in the #! but how??
I will work on pictures. Hoping tp get some more live rock tomorrow only have 15-16 lbs right now and about 40lbs live sand.
Thanks!

Thank you Darth Sarge I will check that out. I am already running a Tunze 9002 skimmer and some cheato in the middle chamber, I was looking at the option of a hang on back fuge,so this will help. Thanks to you both

On the false botoom in chamber 2 is a bag of ChemiPure Elite and a bag of Purigen.
On the drip tray is a pc. of carbon impregnated filter pad and a pc.of phophate remover impregnated pad.
Here is the drip tray. Takes the waterfall noise away too!

I am going to try and fabricate the same ledge. Also how does the skimmer work for you? I do about 10% changes in all my tanks once a week.

for an inexpensive skimmer with an airstone it works well IMO. I replace the airstone, actually wooden, every 2 months. I get a nice tea colored skimmate from it.
