So im new to saltwater and reefing. My friend has one and i thought it was cool and wanted to start my own. I went to my LFS and asked for a starter set up. They hooked me up with a 29g biocube, 23lbs of base rock and 20 lbs of sand. I bought the salt water they make at the store. The tank is currently cycling. I just have a few questions about what the guy at the store told me. Sounds a little ... Hinky lol.
1. First thing he said to do was take all of the bio balls and the sponge filter out of the tank. But leave the carbon filter in the top for the first week. After that week take that one out too. He said once i get my tank going the live rock will filter the water and i wont need filters at all. Its just i have a hard time believing a tank manufacturer would put all those filters on there if they werent needed. I would like some advice from you guys please.
2. He said by cycling the tank the base rock would become live rock?? Is that true? He said right before i get my fish hell give me a piece of live rock to put in and "boost" the tank or something??
Also because i took the balls out the water falls sll the way down the back of the tank to the pump and is kinda loud...any tips for that??
Thank you all for your help!!
