new clam tank

Need some input> I want to setup a tank just for my clams they are in a 55 gal now but i have one fish that picks on them( have a divider now looks bad but works for now)clams size 5.5 to 7.5 x's 4 can i put them in a 24gal with 1x's 250 HQI 15K lighting will this be to much light??? Plan to use new live sand and use h2o from 55 gal to fill with any help on this matter.

what kind of fish? I would say to take the live rock you have, add it to the 24, add some new sand and let it settle for a week or 2. you'll go through a small algae cycle, but check all your parameters.. ammonia, nitrite just in case. Lighting like that should be find for a 24-- clams like maximas and croceas love stronglighting, deresas and squamosas will do fine but need to be on the sandbed
if the fish can fit in the 24, i would put it in there instead
