^candy cane i THINK... cant remember what the guy told me :p

^Toadstool... hasnt really opened up that much yet but its only been a few hours.

^Blastos

And a FTS just for the heck of it.
Thanks for looking!

Nice looking corals. The first picture is candy cane. What size tank and what is your lighting? The reason I ask is that blastos are lower light corals (I think) and you may want to move them down in the tank. Other than that everything looks great.

thanks i have a 29gal with 130w pc lights.
where would you recommend putting the blastos at in this setup? holding them for a friend until his tank is ready and dont really know much about them.

blastos are fairly adaptable to just about any light at this point lower light is safer as they can be supplemented with foods. too much flow is about the only worry with them as they are LPS and can be damaged by too much flow.

I put the blastos at the bottom theres not much flow on them where they are and they seem to be doing fine.
Candy canes are looking good, nice brightly colored although on the rims there seem to be deep orange patches. idk what that is, good or bad. cant get a good pic of it
Now the problem, the toadstool seems to have bent itself over in half and is facing sideways and not opening whatsoever... is it jsut acclimating to the new lighting and tank or is there something wrong? it was a drastic change in light fromt he stores 3 MH and 4VHO covered tank to mine so i think it might jsut be that

It is probably just acclimating to the new tank. Give it some time. I had a toadstool that took almost two weeks to fully acclimate to my tank once. When leathers die they will just slowly melt away to nothing.

i moved it up higher for now so hopefully it will do better. it seems as if the little tentacles are starting to come out but its still like bent in half and has a bunch of clear goo floating around it. (guessing its pissed off)

Believe it or not, not all Blastos can do well in high light. My wife has a Blasto addiction, so our tank is adorned with them. We have one(Welsi) that can sit in full halide light and loves it. It's polyps are about 3-3.5 inches fully extended. Then we have a specimen that we knew was pretty rare. The seller said it was only the third he had ever seen. We did a 2 week light acclimation on it and brought it out to the Halides and the polyps were starting to recede badly. It can do fine under VHO's, but it can't deal with the Halides. I talked to the vendor and he had told me that some simply have to be kept in shaded areas or very low light areas. So we found a spot where the VHO's get to it but the Halide doesn't. It's pretty happy.

As suggested by reefkprZ, start it low. I would move it up slowly and see what it can handle as far as lights are concerned.
BTW, I'm not letting my wife know about this thread as she will just give me the look of wanting more Blastos......I don't like the look...

I've had my blastos in just about all locations under my 440w vho's from top to bottom and they adjust fine as long as the moves are slow. once my tank clears up I'll snap a couple pictures.

The leather is streaching out, facing downward and is about a fifth of the thinkness, just bent in half looking as if its jsut going to fall at any time but the nubs are out even more then ever.... there isnt too much flow on it from that direction so idk whats happening... anyone?
