No plans, just sort of made it up as I went along. I have seen enough reactors and skimmers to wing it. Here is a pic of it full of water. Leak testing it now. Will pressure test it starting tomorrow.

This one is for someone else and they didn't want a secondary chamber. I have a dual chamber reactor on my personal tank. Working with acrylic really is fun once you have the right tools.

Can someone explain the benefits of a calcium reactor over adding supplements? I am just going to add the supplements unless there is a major benefit to the reactor. Also do i need to add calcium from the get go while cycling my tank. I am setting it up on wensday sept 11th(finally almost here) I am going to take pictures and post them once all is done so everyone can see what they helped create. Thanks again to everyone on the boards for there help. In my sig is my tank set up any comments or sugestions are welcomed. my lfs is holding my 15 domino damsels and 15 blue fined damsels and 15 clownfish for my tank cycle. is that enough fish to cycle my tank. thanks again. sorry a little of topic. by the way very nice richard how long did it take? and where did you learn to work with acrylics?

The amount of calcim required for a high demading tank..
If you add supplmenets, espically to a large tank, you will be adding it constantly to keep up with the demand of the tank. With a reactor, it already does it for you.
Not to mention, over a 3-4 year period, the reactor will have paid for itself over the use of the supplements.
When you go on vacation, do you trust someone to dose the tank right?
Just a couple of advantages.
The cost of the reactor and all that goes with it is the disadvantage.
There are more scietific reasons why they are better but I belive you just wanted some general..

THanks Wamp.... Can you suggest any good ones? OR richard what would you charge to build one like yours and ship it? or could you email me the specs so i can try to build one myself?

I don't have plans for the one I built, but you can find good plans here...

I have been doing this DIY acrylic stuff for a few months now. Ask wamp, my edges need a little help. Everything I have built so far works great, but needs a little more work on finishing the edges. I just bought a wheel grinder with buffing pad yesterday so that should change soon.
As for price on mine, I am charging $150.00 plus shipping for the reactor with Mag 2 included, bubble counter, and all tubing. You would still need a CO2 bottle, regulator, and media. Won't be building anything until middle of October though. I will be on vacation until then.

THanks I will check out the plans and see about DIM but I will keep in mind your price. Again thanks and look nice. Have fun on vacation.
